About Us

Ruth Doutrich, CEO (ruth@doutrichhomes.com)

Ruth and her husband built a home for themselves on her father's farm when Ruth was 21 years old. In 1961, they were married and moved into this home in Paradise Township. In the following year, they built two more houses and sold them. They received requests to build more custom homes. And after a time, Ruth and her husband decided to pursue this business venture- Doutrich Homes, custom home builders. Since the very first efforts in 1959, Doutrich has built over 2,500 homes, bringing to many people the reality of their dreams and plans.

Ruth worked for Gap National Bank for five years and learned about small business operations in general. Ruth took drafting courses and picked up credits in Real Estate courses. She soon acquired a Real Estate License.

In 1987, Ruth moved from her 3-room home office to a new office at 3333 Lincoln Highway, Paradise. Here she started Paradise Custom Kitchens, with an emphasis on quality cabinetry, a perfect complement to the home building division.

David Doutrich, President (ddoutrich@doutrichhomes.com)

Born and raised in Lancaster County, David graduated from Pequea Valley High School and attended York College graduating with a BS in accounting.

At the age of thirteen, he started helping his parents by doing labor work out on the job sites, such as raking and seeding lawns, site clean-up, stacking and sorting lumbar and concrete forms, etc. By high school, he was working weekends and summers with the framing crews and continued to work as framer through college and for three years after college.

In his mid-twenties, David started as supervisor for Doutrich Homes, covering all aspects of the custom home building process, from staking off the houses to final punch list completion, and the many details, scheduling and quality control throughout the building of a fine custom home.

David enjoys working for a company whose reputation is one of honesty, quality, and customer satisfaction. This is the legacy handed down to him from his parents. David strives to maintain the integrity of this legacy.

Corey Sangrey, Draftsman (csangrey@doutrichhomes.com)

Corey began working for Doutrich Homes in January, 1992. Initially, his main responsibility was working with Ruth to design house plans for customers. Corey progressed to handling material quantity lists, ordering, and scheduling materials for the rough structuring of the houses.

The drafting was done by hand until 1996 when it switched over to computer aided drafting. Corey works with Ruth to design a plan that meets the lifestyle and budget of each customer. He enjoys seeing a design go from a blueprint to a fully constructed house, ultimately making a homeowner's dream become a reality. Corey lives in Lancaster with his wife and two children. He graduated from Pequea Valley High School and York Technical Institute.
